Mauro Libi Crestani: Negative self esteem or self image will cause you to fail at everything11/25/2015 Look at what's happened to me, I can't believe it myself, Suddenly I'm on top of the world, It should've been somebody else. These words are from a song that describe so many of us. Here this young man becomes the most powerful person on Earth and he has such a negative self image that he still sees himself as Ioser. Many of us have this innate negative attitude towards ourselves. We feel that either we are not capable or not worthy to succeed or to be special. Negative self esteem or self image will cause you to fail at everything. Imagine thinking to yourself, " I am going to fail for sure". If you were the boss of a company would you hire someone with that attitude? Excessive self-criticism tends to backfire, because it leads us to focus on our so-called failures instead of the "small ways that we could haveimproved,". When you make a comment after a meeting that your talk was stupid and that probably ruined your career. That type of thinking will become true because when you believe that you are a failure then you give up trying to win or to succeed. And over the long term, studies show, self trash-talk is associated with higher stress levels and even depression. I once read a book on how to become the President of the Unites States. The author said that to be president you had to believe with all your heart that you are the best person on the planet to run our country and that without you the country will not succeed. If you do not believe it then no one else will. Vincent Van Gough once said," if you hear a voice within you saying, you are not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced". Never allow s negative self image stop you. Mohammed Ali was famous for saying , "I am the greatest." Once during an interview he said, " I am the greatest - I used to say that even before I knew I was." He became the greatest boxer of his tunes because he believed that he was great even before anyone ever heard of him. Would Ali have become the world heavyweight champion if he didn't believe that he was a champion." All that we are is the result of what we have thought." Buddha.
