Porter and Kramer in a 1999 Harvard Business Review article questioned the very assumption that a tradeoff exists between economic efficiency and social progress. The concept is that by growing a successful business, the community should become more successful as well. This concept has a lot in common with corporate social responsibility that always existed. However, there is a major difference in thought. In the past the concept was in corporate philanthropy. It was a give back. The company made a lot of money and as a result the proper thing to do was to give charity to the communities in which it resided. These were strictly handout in which the company saw no gain in the act of giving. It was giving charity for the sake of giving. To help those less fortunate. Mauro Libi Crestani Many CEOs who became very wealthy through their company holdings gave huge amounts to charity. Pioneering American philanthropist Andrew Carnegie once set the standard for giving back: "No man can become rich without himself enriching others," he said. "The man who dies rich dies disgraced." Scores of the world's wealthiest people have taken to his philosophy, donating their riches to hundreds of causes. Paris-born, Iranian-American Pierre Omidyar is cofounder and current chairman of eBay. He donated to date 16% of his net worth to charities. In 2012, Omidyar and his wife joined the Giving Pledge initiative started by Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, promising to donate most of their wealth to charities. Mauro Libi Crestani There are many more examples of corporate philanthropy. I do not want to be misunderstood, charity is important and it helps a lot of people. But it is limited by the amount and by those who can give. It also does little to help the communities that need it most. Porter and Kramer came up with the mindset that corporation that reside within communities can have a mutual shared value. Now the community of an international company may be a global community or we can have a smaller company residing locally within a particular community. The idea that a company’s financial health and the health of the communities around it are mutually dependent. Corporate philanthropy does not take center stage in the shared value philosophy. Mauro Libi Crestani Corporate philanthropy was the idea that a business is a separate entity and it makes a profit at all cost. The community is not part of the equation. Often the community is harmed by the corporation , may be through a large retail store going in and putting the local ones out of business or by polluting its environment. Charity when given is nice but has nothing to do with the way the corporation operates, which in many times is to the harm of the community in which it depends on its profits. Mauro Libi Crestani Kramer and Porter outlined in a landmark article published in the Harvard Business Review, Creating Shared Value: How to reinvent capitalism—and unleash a wave of innovation and growth. A quote from their article: “A big part of the problem lies with companies themselves, which remain trapped in an outdated approach to value creation… They continue to view value creation narrowly, optimizing short term financial performance in a bubble while missing the most important customer needs and ignoring the broader influences that determine their longer-term successes. How else could companies overlook the well-being of their customers, the depletion of natural resources vital to their businesses, the viability of key suppliers, or the economic distress of the communities in which they produce and sell?” In conclusion: Charity is needed and there are many in need, but corporations need to look at their communities as partners in their efforts for profits. It is the loval and global communities that bring in the profits to the corporation. A corporation should be set up with the emphasis being on the mutual benefit of community and corporation and the end result should be greater profitability for all. Mauro Libi Crestani

As a child my dad once bought me a ring. It had many different colors and its colors would change. He told me that it was a mood ring. I was too little to understand that it was just a toy. As I took a test in my third grade class. I put on my ring and was happy to see that the colors were mixed between purple for cool and blue for calm and relaxed . My nervousness over the test disappeared and I did very well. If the ring would have shown a black color (stressed) or a red color (fear) or maybe even a yellow color (nervousness) , who knows how I would have performed. Back then I did not know that a mood ring is a ring that contains a thermochromic element, such as liquid crystal that change colors based upon the temperature of the finger of the wearer. I did well because a toy ring gave me a positive feedback that I was calm and I believed it and as a result I did real well on my exam. Positive thinking will achieve positive results. Had I been given negative feedback, who knows if I would have done as well because there is a belief that negative thinking can not achieve positive results. Norman Vincent Peale in the 1950’s wrote a book called the Power of Positive Thinking and I quote, “Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself as succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously. Never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop the picture... Do not build up obstacles in your imagination.” As a child, it took a toy ring to bring me the confidence to believe that I should be calm and that I will succeed. In real life, you have the power to be successful with your attitude. A proper positive attitude in life is what is needed. If you have negative thought and feeling you can not succeed. The good news is that you can change your attitude. You can be successful if you so choose. If you always put limits on everything you do physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them – Bruce Lee. Your mind is a powerful thing when you fill it with positive thoughts your life will start to change. You probably have brainstormed ideas in your head, so that sometimes you have time to write them and put them into practice. The issue of testing ideas before executing them can become a profitable business plan and a road to becoming a great businessman and a successful person. An expert in these matters, M. Michalko recommends the use of concrete steps to keep all ideas organized and test them before you spend the time, energy and effort in implementation methods ideas.
Recommendations for organizing your ideas One of the recommendations is to create and maintain the habit of keeping a written record of attempts at creativity in a notebook, USB drive, or on your computer. A record not only ensures that the last thoughts and ideas as they are committed to paper or computer files, but can also lead to other thoughts and ideas. The simple act of recording your ideas is like having an active file. Leonardo da Vinci used to think of ideas, write them down and improve them over time by preparing a file. This organization of ideas allowed DaVinci to take simple and complex concepts and work on amazing inventions that were many years ahead of his time, such as the helicopter, bicycle, and the diving suit. Guidelines to organize your ideas: 1. Collect all the interesting ideas that you find during brainstorming sessions, ideas that one has read or ideas that you believe you can accomplish. 2. Register thematically in a notebook, on your computer, or on note cards to present by topic in a box file (for example, improved organization, sales presentations, new markets, new product ideas, etc.) . In case you need more information about an idea, you must indicate the source where the idea is found. Some ideas can fit into several different categories. 3. Once you've developed an idea and have a wide base, several methods exist to collect the view of your collection. Whenever you experience a problem, you must recover the ideas in your file that you created and can apply to your need. Spread ideas before and after reviewing existing files and connect with people who can help. Use the following suggestions to select the ideas more suited to your needs:
2. Once you have selected several ideas from the larger group, prepare to apply the ideas to your current needs. You can tell if you can apply the whole idea or if only a single procedure or part of it applies. Similarly, ideas can be modified to apply to a given situation. 3. Combine and apply appropriate procedures or attributes from two or more ideas. Find the need to be satisfied with that idea The idea becomes a big deal is because it is able to meet any need. Keep in mind that there are many needs to be met. In some cases we are aware of them and not always. With a little research you can find plenty of needs to be met at any level of Maslow's pyramid, which states that there must be a need to meet to create a business that can take a hit in the market. Once we know that the idea covers one or more unmet needs, it must be assessed to see whether there is sufficient market to bring the idea to reality. It's time to study the market to see if this idea only covers one of our needs or whether it covers a global need. It's time to study the potential of the idea in each market segment. There are countless market segments and we must find the segment that would potentially be interested in turning our idea into a product or service. Here are some tips for market segmentation so you can assess what is the most ideal market segment for your idea. Then try to make a plan detailing everything you believe is needed to successfully develop your idea materials, hours, staff, skills, work space, etc. It's time to think of and create a business plan. Remember that lack of planning is one of the main reasons that businesses fail. Therefore, it is very important that you spend all the time in the world to plan your idea to turn it into a business. Thus you can evaluate the feasibility of your idea and ensure it won't fail. The cost of the idea It's time to calculate the cost of production and evaluate the profitability of the idea. Note that it is very important that you calculate all of the expenses and investments will need to put your idea to work. But it is also very important that you evaluate how long it'll take to recover those investments. Because, in the end, the most important thing is not what it cost you to implement it, but if it will be easy to retrieve what you have invested in it and whether it will bring you benefits. If you see that there is no possibility of recovering the capital then forget about it and be glad to have tried the idea before putting it into practice, saving yourself money and stress. Being an entrepreneur means often missing the route itself. The pressures and worries force you be very aware of every detail in order to keep predicting. To avoid running off the map and face times of uncertainty with a strong face and strengthen the progress on the way to achieving your goals, you need to know where you are going and what you want to do with your company. Keep up the great vision in sight An entrepreneur with great vision always stick to that vision. There are many stories of entrepreneurs who have overcome times of difficulty because they believe and maintain their vision of the company up their mind and that allows them to get up and go along on the road to success. Vision is not always traced to reality but it acts as the great north star, which helps entrepreneurs navigate and orientate when stuck in the dark. Feed your vision with perseverance What should go hand in hand with a great vision is the perseverance it takes to move forward. Successful entrepreneurs only go forward, overcoming fear, discomfort and challenges. It is only by feeding vision with perseverance and the spirit of "only forward" that one can finally reach success. Make a plan, but be flexible To be effective in business a plan that includes goals and objectives, as well as marketing organization, is required. Business plans are important models for success. It is a manual of basic instructions to help you control all processes. That plan must be flexible enough to adapt to changing market circumstances while at the same time maintaining consistency between the objectives, vision and mission of the company. Rely on his experience and a professional team Its important to build on the experience and skills and be the light of the business, but you must remember that you cannot do everything. Look for professionals to perform the tasks that you can't do, and focus on your strengths as quickly and often as possible. Do not reinvent the wheel Do not waste your time trying to establish systems when you can simply buy and install one, wasting valuable time and saving little money. There are entrepreneurs who want to reinvent the wheel and spend fortunes on republish what is done or already works. It is best to use what exists in the market to advance your business proposal. Do not risk your health Health is literally the most important thing in your life. Neither your body nor your nervous system nor your heart will ignore the pressures placed upon them. Try to eat healthily, sleep and take time to relax and meditate. If you do not care of your health, you will collapse and lose not only your business, but also the quality of your life. Keep your sense of humor If you can not laugh at yourself, you are losing the benefits of therapy. Laughter is a good way of diminishing stress, infusing a little carelessness into your life and getting a better perspective on the fact that, well, this is just life, after all - you don't have to take it so seriously. Therefore, try to laugh more and reduce stress. Laughter strengthens their emotional and mental well-being and allows you to maintain a pleasant relationship with their environment. What the vision of your business? I replied: "Growing leaders in the grain market to continue investing in Venezuela. In our plant, our facilities, not only in our premium brand of cereal Avelina but in companies related to our sector, we expect to continue our growth, diversify the portfolio and add products to serve our consumers. That is the vision of our business. " A young man about 24 years old was considering doing business in Venezuela but was afraid to take the risk. Everything changes daily. It's too risky, he said. That's when I told him that one of the world's most successful entrepreneurs, Mark Zuckerberg has the following motto: "In a world that is changing really fast, the only strategy where failure is guaranteed is in not taking risks". When you have a clear vision of the business, take into account that the risks are part of the process, without risk there is no change, the great achievements require taking risks, often very dangerous ones. Our companies have a very clear vision and mission. That is why we are committed to the country and to our growth in the market. We are confident that with our plan of operations, we will gain an increasing market share of the cereal sector. In Frimaca, creativity is fundamental. We have teams of professionals trained and motivated to succeed. We know the Venezuelan market very well and internationally we have taken our products to countries such as Dominican Republic, Panama and Colombia. Every movement, every action that involves risk involves intelligent and sagacious thought and planning so you can rest assured that we are prepared to compete and come out on top. We will continue preparing to conquer the challenges and adversity of globalization while taking our stand as the absolute best. For some, success may be to build a sustainable business. For others, it means finding more time to spend with your loved ones. It may be graduating from a university or becoming a recognized artist or an athlete who breaks the records of time. No matter what your goals, there is a key that will help you achieve it: Creating habits. If you have had success in anything, you know that meant a lot of work behind the final result. Athletes like Michael Phelps or Rafael Nadal may be physically gifted, but did not become one of the largest in the world without thousands of hours of practice. Mark Zuckerberg built one of the most successful companies in the world - by establishing practices that have guided him along the way. Habits are vital for success, habits become routine. The value of cultivating good habits makes people succeed in what they are able to discipline themselves. One reason why many are unproductive and postpone the matter is that they are waiting to feel like doing a task. If we are waiting to feel "desire" to make a cold call or write the proposal spend our lives waiting. Usually that feeling of wanting never comes - unless and until it - has an important consequence. The way to pass the action is expected to create habits. Habits are just things you do not even have to think about. The less time we spend wasting time, energy and effort into making the most unproductive thinking. It is useless to think about doing something when you could be spending your time actually doing something. We must use our energy doing the things that matter. As already shown habits become routine. The routine increases efficiency and makes it easier to keep up with difficult or undesirable tasks. Experts say that the habits that bring better results are: Establishing an exercise routine Reading something of value every night before bed Arrive early for appointments Get up early (early enough to have a decent breakfast and take your time, instead of running out the door) Setting aside time each week to reflect on the lessons learned Praising his team or colleagues immediately for achievements Listen carefully to criticism before dismissing as flawed The wait before responding to an email to antagonize Leaving work at the same time every day Think before speak Of course, motivation is needed to start construction habits. But once it is established, motivation is not a problem. Strong habits become automatic. A word of caution. As good habits can lead to success, bad habits can be disastrous. And while experts agree that the time it takes to build and break free from habits vary due to many factors, it takes much longer to get rid of a habit than to build a new one. But that does not mean it's impossible to change bad habits, just takes longer to remove them. The implementation Reaching a goal requires hard work and perseverance. But no matter where you are trying to go, right habits will help you get the place you want to reach. Discover the habits that lead to your destination, and get going by Mauro Libi Crestani. By Mauro Libi Crestani. Life can be hard, sometimes real hard. Life being hard is not necessarily a bad thing. It actually may be a very good thing. Colin Powell said,A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. Why would we ever expect life to be easy? Blame it on Disney. Disney is a company that shows us a fantasy, it shows a life of perfection, where we will be in a fairy tale and every story has a happily ever after ending. Walt Disney created more than 81 feature films and hundreds of shorts. He earned more than 950 honors, including 48 Academy Awards. He founded the California Institute of the Arts. And he built Disneyland. Many of us have come to expect that life should be that care free, that with the slightest amount of failure or tragedy happening, we are ready to call it quits. Many of us feel like our lives are a failure, that things are not working out, that we wish we could be more successful. But let’s remember, that the founder of Disney, Mr. Walt Disney did not have a fairy tale beginning to his career. Early in his working career Walt Disney got fired from a local newspaper for not being creative enough. His editor felt he "lacked imagination and had no good ideas." That wasn't the last of his failures. Disney then acquired Laugh-O-Gram, an animation studio he later drove into bankruptcy. So if you have lost your job, have no money, been told by others that you have no talent. Sure getting kicked to the curb by your employer can certainly be demoralizing. You need to stay positive. What may initially feel like failure may just be the launching pad needed for success. For all the academy awards that Walt Disney won and all the money that he made, For all his success came from difficult challenges—even failures. And, yet, from hard times came important lessons and events, which would serve him later. Walt's life was filled with such events. Painful, difficult moments. But out of them he grew and in many ways succeeded. Now, do not misunderstand…. A positive attitude is not everything…… if you are not the very best at what you do, chances are that you will fail. So get that training and education needed to be the very best. Legend has it that Walt Disney was such a perfectionist. Everything that he did had to be the very best. When Disney put on a display at the New York World’s fair in the 1960’s, he used robots. Nobody used robots back then. Everyone expected a mechanical man that did not do much, but Disney insisted that the robots have movable parts. This was something that no one thought was possible. That is an example of how he wanted to project an image of the very best. So it is important to be the very best in your field and most important , it is to have a positive attitude. Remember, having a positive is not everything, but if you do not have a positive attitude, then you will be nothing. By Mauro Libi Crestani. Following high school, Ziglar served in the Navy during World War II and later attended the University of South Carolina. His life took a turn when he left school to pursue a sales career, hoping to earn a better living for his family. For two years, Ziglar struggled for financial survival. He was not able to make a living and was all about to resign himself to the fact that he would forever live a life of poverty. Then his boss, a Mr. Merrill had a few words with him that would change his life. Mr. Merrill had a cookware company and Ziglar was a salesman working for him. I am going to quote part of this story from a book called ‘Life at the Top’ written years latter by Zig Ziglar. Mr. Merrill: “ I have never seen such a waste of time and effort” Ziglar remembers. “Well, that was kind of a shock. But I asked, ‘What do you mean?’ He said, ‘‘I believe you can be a great one in this business if you would just believe in yourself, work on learning more, doing better and helping other people.’ Now, Mr. Merrill’s company had 7000 salespeople. Ziglar went from being one of the worst salespeople to the number two salesperson within a matter of weeks and then took a job with another company of was their number one salesperson. Merrell didn’t wave a magic wand over Ziglar that fateful day, but until that point, Ziglar viewed himself as a little guy from a little town. Merrell saw him as a potential champion. Merrell’s words were the key that allowed Ziglar to unlock the potential within. The key was belief. Now Mr. Merrill’s words was taken to heart by Ziglar but still as with anyone that tries a new and changing attitude, it was not easy and Ziglar still had his doubts that he would ever be anything more than just a little guy from a little town. That was when he read Dr. Norman Vincent Peale’s book, The Power of Positive Thinking. Dr. Peale helped me identify the real source of my problems. Needless to say, it was me. Ziglar learned that he was the only thing standing between himself and his success. The way he saw himself, the way he saw others and what he believed about himself and others could either propel his success or inhibit it. Zig Ziglar was to go on to become the most famous and successful motivational speaker in modern times. For the last fifty years of his life he was to give countless success seminars and workshops and wrote over twenty four books. His seminars stressed one main point. You could unlock your true potential if you just believed in yourself. Positive attitude goes even a step further than just having belief in yourself. It changes who you are. When you encourage others to feel better about themselves and you encourage them to be more positive, then you will actually gain more out of that encouragement than they will get from your words. “So many times people have responded so well. When you encourage others, you in the process are encouraged because you’re making a commitment and difference in that person’s life. Encouragement really does make a difference.” “Help other people do the right thing, tutor them if it’s possible and practical, but always encourage them. Encouragement is the fuel on which success thrives.” By Mauro Libi Crestani. All major market surveys make it clear that at present, most employees are producing less than they are capable of producing, so productivity levels of companies have declined alarmingly. Indeed, Gallup found that 71% of all employees are either "not engaged" or "actively disengaged" companies. Against this complicated scenario, employers must act and implement methods to reverse the numbers and connect the workforce to their responsibilities in organizations. Research indicates that companies should act when they see their employees do not feel committed to their workplace. HR departments handled a number of tools to reconnect workers subirles commitment, morale and increase their performance. It also has rules to prevent employees from falling into the temptation of the many distractions that abound in the workplace. Once companies recognize that employees are disabled (usually have dull countenance, drowsy, distracted, with beady eyes) must proceed to communicate with those employees and explain that their inactive attitude represents a high cost for the company, why should change or withdraw. According Terri Kabachnick in his book I Quit, some of the most common causes of labor decoupling are lack of information, lack of purpose of work and lack of respect. To re-engage their employees or prevent disengagement during its slowdown in business, the business leader must establish efficient communication policies. Workers must be kept informed, information management and optimal communication has a impact on your mood and motivation. After studying communication patterns in dozens of organizations, Tamotsu Shibutani concluded: "It is better to keep informed their work tables, to avoid losing them." If you want an engaged workforce, then you must instill a sense of purpose of employment. It is almost impossible for employees to spend five or 10 years in a job and feel good about themselves. Many believe that their jobs are a colossal waste of time. Employees need to know more than it involves work. A portion of the address is to ensure that their workers go on every day to the company with the feeling that they are working on something very important. To build a culture of employees "engaged" we must show the workers that their jobs have a purpose that only they can fulfill. That's why an effective strategy of attributing productivity is directly related to the employee a responsibility to their superior. If an employee feels that their work is important or essential he or she will be fully committed to their jobs. It is advisable to show their respect, treating each employee as an individual. Get to know the strengths and weaknesses and preferences of each person. He calls each person by name and make you feel that your work is appreciated by the company. These small changes will change the attitude of the employees and connect with productivity goals of the company. By Mauro Libi Crestani.
